In 2007, Richard Crenian entered the Scotiabank Baycrest Pro-Am annual hockey tournament and raised some funds in the fight against dementia. His involvement, support and dedication to Baycrest intensified when he lost his beloved aunt to Alzheimer’s disease a few years later in 2011.

Since then, he’s learned that he’s not alone in recognizing Baycrest as a special place with a unique heritage and vital role in redefining the journey of aging, both in Canada and worldwide. Inspired by the deep, passionate support of fellow donors and Baycrest staff, Crenian decided this year to up his game and honour the Baycrest philanthropic community with the creation of a matching gift program.

Crenian hopes this challenge to like-minded donors will encourage more giving in support of Baycrest.

By establishing this unprecedented $100,000 Matching Gift to support the Annual Campaign for Baycrest, Crenian has laid down a challenge for others to help – meaning, for every dollar given, Baycrest will receive DOUBLE the donation.

“The more I learned about Baycrest and its world-leading care, research and education, the more I also became impressed with the donor community that has supported Baycrest for almost 100 years. I want to honour these donors by matching their generosity – dollar for dollar,” Crenian says.

To respond to Crenian’s challenge and take advantage of this unique giving opportunity to transform $100,000 into $200,000 for urgent needs at Baycrest, visit http://www.baycrest.org/give/ways-to-give/match-my-gift/
