As the weeks of physical distancing are prolonged we’re all uncertain of what the future will look like and there are a lot of fears that we are facing individually and collectively. How do we take care of ourselves and how can we help others especially when we can’t be physically present?

This webinar is geared towards family caregivers, older adults and anyone who is facing increasing challenge of social isolation and stress due to COVID-19.

Dr. Adriana Shnall
Renee Climans is a registered social worker with over 30 years’ experience. She has worked at Baycrest since 1990 where she has been involved in care, research, and education and where she has been actively involved in facilitating supportive counselling groups, both in person and virtually, for family members of people with dementia and mild cognitive impairment as well as other issues of loss and health related changes. Her approach is wellness oriented and collaborative and combines narrative, solution focused, cognitive behavioural and mindfulness therapeutic methods. On topics related to gerontology and health care she has conducted numerous media interviews, lectures, and published in peer-reviewed journals.
 
Dr. Adriana Shnall is the Program Director of Baycrest@Home, Clinical Programs. As part of her portfolio, she leads the Koschitzky Centre for Innovations in Family Caregiving, the Seniors Counselling and Referral and Senior Support Programs at Baycrest. Adriana has 30 years of clinical experience working with older adults and their families including outpatient community services, long term care and inpatient services. Adriana is the Chair of the Caregiving Committee for the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) and is a member of the Ontario Caregiver Coalition and the Toronto Caregiver Coalition. Adriana integrates clinical practice, education and research in the area of family caregiving with an expertise in evidence based, innovative family caregiving initiatives.
